The Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) – Graduate Work stream is designed for international students who have recently graduated with skills and qualifications relevant to specific occupations in Australia. This visa enables you to live, study, and work in Australia temporarily.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) – Graduate Work stream, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be under 50 years of age
  • Hold an eligible visa
  • Have held a student visa in the last 6 months
  • Have a qualification relevant to an occupation on the skilled occupation list (Note: not required for applications lodged between 1 July 2022 and 30 June 2023)
  • Have applied for a skills assessment in your nominated occupation on the skilled occupation list (Note: not required for applications lodged between 1 July 2022 and 30 June 2023)
  • Provide evidence of adequate health insurance for all applicants
  • Provide evidence you have applied for an Australian Federal Police check
  • Provide evidence of the required level of English proficiency
  • Meet the Australian study requirement
  • Have skills and qualifications that Australia needs (nominate 1 occupation on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List, have a relevant degree, diploma, or trade qualification, and have your skills assessed by a relevant assessing authority)
  • Meet the health and character requirements
  • Sign the Australian values statement
  • Have no debt to the Australian government
  • Not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused in Australia
