The Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188) – Investor stream allows you to carry out business and investment activity in Australia and can apply for a permanent Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa (subclass 888) – Investor stream if certain requirements are met.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188) – Investor stream, you must meet the following requirements:

• Score at least 65 on the points test.
• Be under 55 years of age.
• Intend to live in a specific Australian State or Territory.
• Have a total net business and personal assets for the two fiscal years of at least AUD2.5 million (or AUD2.25 million if invited before 1 July 2021).
• Manage a business in which you, your partner, or both, had at least a 10% ownership interest, or own personal and business assets of at least AUD2.5 million (or AUD1.25 million if invited before 1 July 2021).
• Make a complying significant investment of at least AUD2.5 million (or hold a designated investment of at least AUD1.5 million if invited before 1 July 2021).
• Be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency.
• Have no history of involvement in business or investment activities that are not generally acceptable in Australia.
• Have the right experience.
• Meet the English language requirements, if applicable.
• Meet the health and character requirements.
• Sign the Australian values statement.
• Have no outstanding debts owed to the Australian government.
• Not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused in Australia.
