The Business Innovation and Investment visa (subclass 188) – Business Innovation stream allows you to operate a new or existing business in Australia, bring eligible members of your family with you, and apply to stay permanently in Australia.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this visa, you must:

• Score at least 65 on the points test
• Provide proof of your business success, including annual turnover and ownership interest
• Have a total net business and personal assets of at least AUD1.25 million if invited to apply on or after 1 July 2021, or AUD800,000 if invited to apply before 1 July 2021
• Be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency
• Have had an ownership stake in 1 or 2 businesses with at least AUD500,000 or AUD750,000 turnover in each of the 2 fiscal years immediately before receiving an invitation to apply
• Own personal and business assets of at least AUD1.25 million or AUD800,000 depending on when invited to apply
• Have a successful business career and a genuine desire to continuously own and manage a business in Australia
• Be under 55 years of age
• Have no history of involvement in unacceptable business or investment activities
• Have functional English
• Meet the health and character requirements
• Sign the Australian values statement
• Have no debt to the Australian Government
• Not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused
