To be eligible for the Temporary Work (International relations) visa (subclass 403) – Foreign Government Agency stream, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Have a letter of support from the foreign government agency, ministry, mission, or international organization
  • Be able to support yourself and any dependent family members who come with you
  • Be employed by a foreign government in an Australian school if you are working as a foreign language teacher
  • Not be given official status in Australia by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) if you work as a foreign government agency representative
  • Hold or have held a temporary substantive visa in the last 12 months if you are applying in Australia (excludes Temporary Work (International Relations) visa (subclass 403) in the Domestic Worker (Diplomatic or Consular) stream, Transit visa (subclass 771), or Special Purpose visa)
  • Meet the health and character requirements
  • Have adequate health insurance
  • Meet the genuine temporary stay requirement
  • Repay any debt owed to the Australian Government
  • Not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused
