U.S. citizens may sponsor their sister, brother, stepsister, stepbrother or adopted brother or sister living abroad or already residing in the United States to live and work in the U.S. on a permanent basis.
THE SIBLING (FAMILY) VISA BASIC REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. Citizens and at least 21 years of age. Lawful Permanent Residents may not sponsor their siblings to live in the U.S. As well, the United States requires applicants to submit the relevant petition forms and show proof of relation to sibling and proof of sufficient funds. If you were not born in the United States, you are required to also provide proof of U.S. citizenship. The siblings need not share the same biological parents as long as both became “children” at the appropriate time (before the age of 16 in cases of adoption, and before the age of 18 for stepchildren).
