CAMP COUNSELOR EXCHANGE (J-1) VISA

A Camp Counselor exchange program allows post-secondary students and youth workers to come to the United States to work in youth summer camps for up to four (4) months. These programs provide a unique opportunity for participants to interact with American youth and oversee camp activities with their American colleagues.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, be proficient in English and be a foreign post-secondary student, youth worker or other qualified individual to be eligible for the Camp Counselor visa. In addition, applicants must meet the requirements of their sponsoring organization, which will assist the applicant in finding and obtaining employment at a US summer camp.

CAMP COUNSELOR EXCHANGE VISA (J-1) BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Before applying for the visa, the applicant must locate a sponsoring organization and the applicant must meet the requirements of their sponsoring organization. Finally, applicants may be required to meet certain health and character requirements.

CAMP COUNSELOR EXCHANGE VISA (J-1) ENTITLEMENTS

An Exchange visa holder participating in a Camp Counselor program is entitled to remain in the United States for 4 months provided they continue to participate in the program established by their sponsoring organization. Applicants have the opportunity to work in the United States and interact and influence American youth.
