The Au Pair exchange program provides young foreigners the opportunity to study child care, safety and development while working for an American family and providing child care services. The sponsor must train the applicant in child development for a minimum of 8 hours and child safety for a minimum of 24 hours prior to the placement. The applicant must complete at least 6 hours of academic work at an accredited US post-secondary school. The applicant must also work with the Host Family for a minimum of 10 hours per day and a maximum of 45 hours per week.
