WORK VISAS TO THE UNITED STATES
REPRESENTATIVE OF FOREIGN MEDIA VISA TO THE UNITED STATES
Bona fide representatives of the foreign press, radio, film or other foreign information media can come to the United States to work on a temporary basis. The applicant must be coming to the United States solely to engage in their vocation, in response to a job offer by an American affiliate of a foreign media employer, and the applicant’s home office must be in a foreign country. The applicant can provide services in various branches of the media, including foreign press, radio, film and television.
REPRESENTATIVE OF FOREIGN MEDIA VISA (I) BASIC REQUIREMENTS
Basic requirements include that the applicant be a bona fide representative of the foreign press, radio, film, television or other foreign information media and is entering the United States solely to work in that vocation. The applicant’s activities must be to primarily benefit the foreign-based media company. There must be reciprocity between the US and the applicant’s home country. The applicant may also be required to meet certain health and character requirements.
REPRESENTATIVE OF FOREIGN MEDIA VISA (I) ENTITLEMENTS
Representatives of Foreign Media Visas are granted for the duration of the applicant’s job status. In addition, extensions are granted indefinitely in increments of 1 year.
Spouses and unmarried children under the age of 21 who wish to accompany or join the visa holder in the United States may obtain the relevant visa. This will allow spouses and children to study in private or public schools in the United States without the need to obtain a study visa. Spouses and children are not entitled to work without an approved employment authorization document.
