WORK VISAS TO THE UNITED STATES
EXTRAORDINARY ABILITY VISA TO THE UNITED STATES
Persons with extraordinary ability shown through national and/or international acclaim may enter the United States to work or perform at a specific event, such as a tour, lecture series or project, to continue work in the area of extraordinary ability or achievement. Applicant must be able to prove their extraordinary abilities in their specific fields of endeavour by providing extensive documentation, which may include letters from renowned and well-respected authorities, awards, and the ability to command a much higher salary than others because of their extraordinary abilities.
EXTRAORDINARY ABILITY VISA (O-1) BASIC REQUIREMENTS
Basic requirements for this visa include that requirement for a US employer or sponsor to submit an application on behalf of the applicant to demonstrate that the applicant’s participation at or in an event, lecture series or project is required and that he or she possesses the required extraordinary ability or achievement required. Once the application is approved, applicants must then apply for a visa. Applicants will be required to meet certain criminal and medical requirements.
EXTRAORDINARY ABILITY VISA (O-1) ENTITLEMENTS
The applicant is entitled to stay in the United States for up to 3 years with extensions of stay in 1-year increments. Spouses and children under the age of 21 who wish to visit, accompany or join the visa holder in the United States, may obtain the relevant visa. This will allow spouses and children to study in private or public schools in the United States without the need to obtain a Study Visa. Spouses may apply for work authorization if seeking employment for their duration of stay in the United States.
