CHILE & SINGAPORE FREE TRADE VISA TO THE UNITED STATES

Citizens of Chile and Singapore may enter the United States to work in a specialty occupation under this visa. A “specialty occupation” is an occupation that requires highly specialized knowledge and at least a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in a specific field.

Under the Chile & Singapore Free Trade Visa, applicants can obtain the visa directly at the US consulate in his or her home country once they have obtained an offer of employment. Applicants are exempted from having to satisfy licensing requirements prior to their arrival.

CHILE & SINGAPORE FREE TRADE VISA (H1-B1) BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Applicants of the Chile & Singapore Free Trade Visa must show that the purpose of their entry to the US is directly related to their field of study. Other requirements also include a job offer from a US employer and the completion of at least a Bachelor degree. The job itself must be a specialty occupation and require Bachelor degree-level qualification or equivalent work experience. The applicant may also be required to meet certain health and character requirements.

CHILE & SINGAPORE FREE TRADE VISA (H1-B1) ENTITLEMENTS

Chile & Free Trade Visas are granted for an initial period of a 1-year stay in the United States. Thereafter, extensions are granted in 1-year increments, indefinitely. Spouses and unmarried children under the age of 21 who wish to accompany or join the visa holder in the United States may obtain the relevant derivative visa. This will allow spouses and children to study in private or public schools in the United States without the need to obtain a Study Visa.
