WORKING IN THE UK

UK WORKING CONDITIONS

Workers' rights in the UK will depend on their general rights under the law and their contract of employment. The contract of employment can only give the worker more rights

UK employment law is very good at protecting workers' rights. All workers are entitled to be paid for the work they have done and the minimum national wage standard rate is £5.35 for workers aged 22 and over.

Nearly all workers are also entitled to at least four weeks paid annual leave, sick pay and maternity and paternity leave. All employers have a duty to take care of the health and safety of all their employees.

Salaries will vary greatly depending on the nature of the job, the industry and the location.

There are special rules about the employment of children and young people.
