This visa is initially granted for a maximum period of two years allowing you to raise your profile by promoting and marketing your work in the UK. This visa is extendable, provided all the relevant criteria are satisfied, and may eventually lead to permanent residence and British Nationality.

WRITERS, COMPOSERS AND ARTISTS VISA BASIC REQUIREMENTS

You must have been nationally recognised outside the UK and primarily engaged in producing original work which has been published, performed or exhibited for its literary, musical or artistic merit. You must be able to show that you intend to work in the UK as a self employed writer, composer or artist. You must be able to show that for the 12 months preceding your application you were able to maintain yourself from your own income gained working as a writer, composer or artist. You can financially maintain and accommodate yourself and any dependants without accessing public funds.

WRITERS, COMPOSERS AND ARTISTS VISA ENTITLEMENTS

You will be given permission to live in the UK for a maximum of two years. Subject to meeting certain legal requirements, the Home Office may extend your permission to stay for up to 3 years. Once you have completed 5 years stay as a writer, composer or artist you will be able to apply for permission to live permanently in the UK and subsequently to become British.

You will be allowed to work as a Writer, Composer or Artist only. You partner and dependent children under the age of 18 may be included on your application as dependants. They will also be able to work and receive free education in the UK.
