VISITING MEDIA PROGRAMME VISITOR'S VISA TO NEW ZEALAND

Participants in a Visiting Media Programme (VPM) are included as a special category of visitor under visitor's visa policy. This special category allows VPM participants to undertake employment associated with their media programme for up to one month on a visitor's permit.

NEW ZEALAND VISITING MEDIA PROGRAMME VISA BASIC REQUIREMENTS

To obtain a visitor's visa under the Visiting Media Programme policy, applicants must have a letter of introduction from New Zealand Trade and Enterprise or the New Zealand Tourism Board.

As with general visitors, applicants also need to meet the basic health and good character requirements, have travel arrangements to leave New Zealand when their permit expires and sufficient funds to support their stay.

Persons who are from visa-free countries will not need to apply for a visitor's visa before travelling to New Zealand and may be granted a visitor's permit on arrival, subject to meeting the requirements outlined above.

Visa-free countries: Andorra, Argentina, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea (South), Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America, Uruguay and Vatican City. Please note that Australian citizens are exempt from obtaining a visa.

NEW ZEALAND VISITING MEDIA VISA ENTITLEMENTS

Holders of visitor's visas and/or permits approved under the Visiting Media Programme are permitted undertake employment directly related to their invitation for up to one month. Individuals may not undertake any other form of employment or a course of study that is normally more than 3 months in duration. VMP participants who wish to stay in New Zealand for longer than one month should apply for a work visa or permit instead.
