Leather Worker

Fabricates and repairs leather articles such as wallets, cases,
harnesses and saddlery.

SKILL LEVEL:

The entry requirement for this occupation is an AQF Certificate III or higher qualification.

TASKS INCLUDE:

• cuts and prepares leather to design specifications or drawings
• sews, rivets or glues leather and fastens sections together
• attaches fasteners, eyelets and other fittings or decorations
• finishes edges and surfaces with beeswax or other preparations
• restores and repairs leather articles
• embosses with patterns, or dyes leather
• prepares linings, fillings and other shaping or finishing
  materials
• may insert card holders, plastic windows, other accessories
  and price tags or manufacturers' labels and care instructions
  into articles
