VISITOR'S VISA TO NEW ZEALAND
PLAYERS IN TOURNAMENTS VISITOR'S VISA TO NEW ZEALAND
Players and support staff participating in a tournament in New Zealand are included as a special category of visitor, and may apply for a visitor's visa for this purpose.
This visitor's visa allows tournament players, and their support staff, to participate in a tournament whilst on visitor's permit for up to 3 months.
NEW ZEALAND PLAYERS IN TOURNAMENTS VISA BASIC REQUIREMENTS
To obtain a visitor's visa as a tournament player or support staff, applicants must meet the basic health and good character criteria, and be genuine visitors. That is, they do not intend to work or undertake study (unless the course is less than 3 months in duration). Applicants must have proof of travel arrangements to leave New Zealand when their visa expires, and have sufficient funds to support themselves during their stay.
Persons who are from visa-free countries will not need to apply for a visitor's visa and may be granted a visitor's permit, subject to meeting general visitor's visa requirements.
Visa-free countries: Andorra, Argentina, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea (South), Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America, Uruguay and Vatican City. Please note that Australian citizens are exempt from obtaining a visa.
NEW ZEALAND PLAYERS IN TOURNAMENTS VISA ENTITLEMENTS
Approved tournament players and support staff may be issued with a visitor's visa and /or permit, allowing a stay in New Zealand for up to 3 months. Holders of visitor's visa or permits under this category may participate in their tournament, but cannot undertake any other form of work and they cannot undertake a course of study that is more than 3 months in duration. Players and support staff requiring longer stays should apply a work visa instead.
