Persons seeking medical treatment or consultation in New Zealand are included as a special category of visitor. A 'medical treatment or consultation' visitor's visa allows people seeking medical treatment or consultation(s) in New Zealand to stay for up to 6 months for this purpose.NEW ZEALAND MEDICAL TREATMENT VISA BASIC REQUIREMENTS
To obtain a visitor's visa for medical treatment or consultation in New Zealand, applicants must meet the good character criteria, and be genuine visitors. That is, they do not intend to work or undertake study (unless the course is less than 3 months in duration).
Applicants must provide proof that they have been accepted for medical treatment and also provide information about how they will pay for the treatment.
As with other visitor's visas, applicants must have proof of travel arrangements to leave New Zealand when their visa expires, and have sufficient funds to support themselves during their stay, or be sponsored by a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident who will provide accommodation and maintenance.
NEW ZEALAND MEDICAL TREATMENT VISA ENTITLEMENTS
As the holder of a visitor's visa, individuals will have the right to travel to and stay in New Zealand for the duration of the visa. Visitor's visa holders cannot work, but may undertake a course of study that is less than 3 months long.
