WORK VISAS TO NEW ZEALAND

STUDY TO WORK VISA TO NEW ZEALAND

The Study to Work policy allows recent New Zealand graduates with a relevant job offer to gain work experience in New Zealand.

New Zealand is looking for a range of skilled migrants with skills, experience and training, and English Language proficiency to fill current shortages of skilled workers. The Study to Work policy aims to encourage individuals who gained a desired qualification to stay and contribute to New Zealand's economy.

Work experience gained through this visa category may count towards points under the Skilled Migrant Category for residence in New Zealand.

NEW ZEALAND STUDY TO WORK VISA BASIC REQUIREMENTS

To obtain a work permit under the Study to Work policy, applicants must meet the basic health and good character requirements.

Applicants must also have completed a course in New Zealand that took at least 3 years to complete or that would qualify for points under the Skilled Migrant Category for residence, and hold an offer of employment relevant to their qualification.

Applicants seeking a 3 year permit to work towards gaining professional membership or registration need to show that registration is necessary for their occupation.

Applications for a Study to Work Visa must be made no later than 3 months after the end date of the student permit held for the applicant's qualifications, unless the applicant holds a Graduate Work Search permit.

NEW ZEALAND STUDY TO WORK VISA ENTITLEMENTS

Approved Study to Work Visa applicants may be issued a work visa and/or permit which will entitle the holder to work in New Zealand, in a specified occupation, for a specified employer, for the life of the/permit. Generally, a work permit under this policy may be granted for a maximum of 2 years (or 3 years for applicants who must gain occupational registration).

Individuals who choose to apply for residence at a later stage may use their New Zealand work experience to claim points under the Skilled Migrant Category.
