NEW ZEALAND LONG TERM SKILL SHORTAGE LIST VISA BASIC REQUIREMENTS

To obtain a work visa under the Long Term Skill Shortage category, you must meet basic requirements set by Immigration New Zealand. These include meeting health and good character criteria.

Applicants must also be aged 53 or under, and have a full time, genuine offer of employment that is on the Long Term Skill Shortage List and is for a minimum two year period. If your job requires you to be registered in New Zealand, you will also need to provide evidence of occupational registration.

NEW ZEALAND LONG TERM SKILL SHORTAGE LIST VISA ENTITLEMENTS

As the holder of a work visa and/or permit, you will be able to live and work in New Zealand, in your occupation, and for a specified employer, for the life of that visa/permit.

Your partner and dependent children may also accompany you to New Zealand by applying for separate visitor, student or work permits.

Permanent residence in New Zealand gives your (and your family) free access to public schools, subsidised tertiary education and other support, such as student loans, and subsidised public health services. You will also have the ability to apply for citizenship once to satisfy the relevant residency requirements.

Once you have worked for two years, you may be eligible to apply for residence, and include your partner and dependent children in that residence application.
