SPECIFIC PURPOSE OR EVENT WORK VISA TO NEW ZEALAND
The Specific Purpose or Event work visa allows persons to work temporarily in New Zealand for a special purpose or event that will benefit New Zealand. These include international performances or concerts, major business conferences and international sports events.
NEW ZEALAND SPECIFIC PURPOSE OR EVENT WORK VISA BASIC REQUIREMENTS
To obtain a Specific Purpose or Event work visa or permit, applicants must meet the basic prerequisites set by New Zealand Immigration. These include meeting health and good character criteria.
Applicants must also have a job offer or an invitation related to the specific purpose or event, have relevant qualifications and/or experience, and have sufficient income, funds or sponsorship to cover their costs during their stay in New Zealand.
Visa or immigration officers may take into consideration whether an applicant's employment would or would not limit employment opportunities for New Zealanders. This means that employers may need to show that they have considered employing New Zealanders, if appropriate.
NEW ZEALAND SPECIFIC PURPOSE OR EVENT WORK VISA ENTITLEMENTS
Applicants approved a Specific Purpose or Event work visa may travel to New Zealand to work at the event for a specified duration. The maximum stay allowed will depend on the duration of the event and limits set out in the policy.
Specific Purpose or Event work visas and permits contain conditions according to the needs of the applicant. For example, a work visa for a professional sports coach may be endorsed: As Football Coach for The New Zealand Soccer Federation at Wellington.
