GUARDIAN VISA TO NEW ZEALAND
The Guardian Visa is a special category of visitor's visa, which allows parents or legal guardians to live with, and care for, a young international student in New Zealand.
NEW ZEALAND PARENT OR GUARDIAN VISA BASIC REQUIREMENTS
To obtain a Guardian Visa, applicants must meet the basic health and good character criteria, and be the parent or legal guardian of an international student enrolling in school years 1 to 13, or who is aged 17 or younger. Applicants must also be genuine visitors – that is, they do not intend to work or undertake study (unless the course is less than 3 months in duration).
Applicants must have proof of arrangements to leave New Zealand at the end of their visa, and have sufficient funds to support themselves during their stay.
NEW ZEALAND PARENT OR GUARDIAN VISA ENTITLEMENTS
Guardian Visa holders may be allowed a maximum stay in New Zealand of up to 12 months initially. Holders of a Guardian Visa cannot work, but may undertake a course of study that is less than 3 months long. Guardian Visa holders cannot apply for a student or work permit, but may be eligible to apply for a variation of conditions for part-time work or study.
