VISITOR'S VISA TO NEW ZEALAND
GENERAL VISITOR'S VISA TO NEW ZEALAND
Each year New Zealand welcomes thousands of tourists and holidaymakers from around the world. A visitor's visa allows applicants to travel around, sightsee and explore New Zealand, or visit friends and family for up to 9 months.
Individuals from visa-free countries intending to travel to New Zealand for a general visit for no more than 3 months (or 6 months in the case of UK passport-holders) do not need to apply for a visitor's visa and may be granted a visitor's permit upon arrival, subject to meeting basic visitor's requirements.
NEW ZEALAND GENERAL VISITOR'S VISA BASIC REQUIREMENTS
To obtain a General Visitor's Visa, applicants must meet the basic health and good character criteria, and be genuine visitors or tourists. That is, they do not intend to work or undertake study (unless the course is less than 3 months in duration). Applicants must have proof that they will leave New Zealand at the end of their permit. They must also have sufficient funds to support themselves during their stay, or be sponsored by a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident who will provide accommodation and maintenance.
Individuals arriving to New Zealand on a passport from a visa-free country should have evidence of onward travel and sufficient funds to support their stay ready to present to an Immigration Officer at the border.
Visa-free countries: Andorra, Argentina, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea (South), Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America, Uruguay and Vatican City.
