CANADIAN IMMIGRATION NEWS
Microsoft Boss Admires Canadian Immigration SystemWednesday, 4 November 2009 Steve Ballmer, head of Microsoft, offered praise for the Canadian immigration system during a speech in Toronto in late October. Mr. Ballmer was in Toronto to give a speech to the Canadian technology industry, not to be afraid of investing during the global recession. "You cut costs because you have to and the money you have left you invest for growth," he told local business leaders. He went further to say that it is because of Canada's immigration policies that it has been easy for Canadian technology firms to recruit the best and most highly skilled IT professionals. He believes this is a fantastic asset for any country to have and that with these skilled worker policies Canada is a step ahead of the US. Canada's technology industry is poised for growth with a recent report from IDC Canada predicting that 1,000 new technology businesses will emerge by 2013. This will, in turn, increase the demand Canada has for skilled IT professionals and open more opportunities for those from abroad to come and fill the gaps in the skills market.
