Concern Grows as Canada's Population Ages

Government and Business officials are growing increasingly more concerned over an aging skilled labour population at all levels of employment.

Since the early 1980's, there have been forecasts that should have prepared companies for the consequences of poor long term planning, and it seems as though businesses are reaching a critical state.

Current infrastructure relies heavily on a population that is approaching retirement, and will need to act quickly in order to fill the gaps left behind.

Canadian provincial governments have begun to implement new and more diverse provincial immigration programs that target areas that are facing critical labour shortages in the immediate future. The Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP's) tend to favour immigrants who are able to satisfy the immediate needs of each individual province, while offering a potentially expedited immigration process for those looking to eventually settle permanently in Canada.
