Canadian War Museum Acknowledges Important ContributionsThursday, 12 February 2009 Jason Kenny, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism touched off Black History Month at Ottawa’s Canadian War Museum, which is celebrating the World War 1 contributions of the No. 2 Construction Battalion of Nova Scotia The Canadian government has been officially celebrating Black History Month in February for the past 13 years in an effort to celebrate and acknowledge experiences of black Canadians in Canada’s rich cultural landscape. Events include a one day educational event in Ottawa for managers of Canada’s black history museums which seek to preserve contributions of black Canadians towards the fabric of this diverse country. Other events will be held in celebration of military and athletic achievements, and an elaborate photo exhibit will tour Canada as well.
