LIVE-IN CAREGIVER WORK VISA
Each year, Canada welcomes thousands of live-in caregivers to work and live as private caregivers for Canadian households in order to meet the job shortages in this sector. As the Canadian population ages, and the number of working parents increase, Canada will require more live-in caregivers to provide private care for Canada's aging population, the sick as well as young children. As Canada is currently experiencing a shortage, more caregivers will be required in the future.
The Live-in Caregiver program allows applicants to come to Canada to work and live with a Canadian family, earn Canadian experience, and become eligible to apply for permanent residence after 2 years of employment in Canada.
A Live-in Caregiver Work Visa allows applicants with at least 6 months of training or at least 12 months of work experience to file an application. You must also meet some additional requirements detailed below.

LIVE-IN CAREGIVER WORK VISA ENTITLEMENTS
Live-in Caregivers are allowed to live and work in Canada for a one-year period, which can be renewed for an additional 2 years. While usually tied to a specific employer, it may be possible for you to change employers during your stay in Canada if you wish to change the type of live-in care you provide in Canada.
Once you have accumulated at least 2 years of Canadian work experience, within the 3 years of your arrival, you can then apply for an open work permit allowing you to work for any employer. All the while, it may also be possible to have your permanent residence application processed in tandem, which could allow you to stay in Canada once your application has been approved.
You can also have your dependent spouse and children included in your application for permanent residence and have their applications for permanent residence to Canada processed in tandem with yours.
