SKILLED SPONSORED STATE/TERRITORY VISA TO AUSTRALIA
The Skilled Sponsored State/Territory Visa is designed to provide work visas to individuals who have skills or an outstanding ability, and who have obtained sponsorship from a participating state/territory government.
Applicants under this category can use that state/territory sponsorship to help them meet the pass mark of 100 points. Successful applicants will obtain permanent residence and must undertake to live and work in Australia, in the sponsoring state/territory for at least 2 years.

AUSTRALIAN SKILLED STATE/TERRITORY VISA BASIC REQUIREMENTS
In order to satisfy labour market shortages, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) has set specific requirements for people who are interested in applying under the Skilled Migration Stream.
To qualify for skilled migration, you (or your partner) must be able to satisfy the basic Visa requirements, obtain sponsorship from a participating state/territory government and meet the pass mark of 100. You must meet specific age requirements, English language ability, minimum qualifications level, selection of a nominated occupation and recent work experience.
In order to obtain state/territory sponsorship, you must satisfy the specific criteria as set by the different state/territory governments. These may include:
- having an occupation on the skills shortage list in that state/territory
- demonstrating specialized skills in a particular region of that state/territory
AUSTRALIAN SKILLED STATE/TERRITORY VISA ENTITLEMENTS
As a permanent resident, you have the right to live, work and study in Australia for as long as you wish. When you are granted permanent residence, a Visa label is placed in your passport as proof of your permanent residency status.
Other benefits of holding permanent residence include access to Medicare (government-subsidised health care) and ability to apply for citizenship once you satisfy the residency requirements.
