The Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa is designed to let applicants who cannot meet the skilled independent pass mark to rely on state/territory sponsorship in order to qualify. This is a provisional visa. Only the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) does not participate in this Visa program.

Applicants under this category must be prepared to live for two years and work for at least 12 months in a regional area of Australia, or one with a low rate of population growth. The visa is valid for 3 years and there is an option to obtain a 1 year renewal if the applicant is not yet in a position to meet the criteria for permanent residence.

Under this visa type, you will be required to sign an undertaking that you, and members of your family included in your application, will live, work or study in a regional or a low population metropolitan area in Australia, gazetted at the time your SRS visa was granted, for the duration of your visa.
