Australia Launches an Association of Saudi Graduates of Australian UniversitiesWednesday, 18 April 2012 The Australian Embassy in Riyadh held a get-together event on April 18 to welcome graduates studying in Australia and launched the association of Saudi graduates of Australian universities (SADAGA). Alumni of Australian universities in the Kingdom, representatives of top Australian universities and members of the Australian business community also participated in the event. According to the Australian Ambassador Neil Hawkins, the event was an opportunity to introduce Australia's world-class higher education institutions in addition to highlighting the impressive achievements of Saudi graduates in Australia. In terms of easing the procedure of visa issuance at the Australian mission in the capital, the Ambassador indicated that Australian student visas were generally approved within days. Currently there are over 12 Australian universities cooperating with Saudi universities in fields of research, teaching and curriculum. About 11,000 Saudi students are studying at Australian universities, accompanied by a further 7,000 family members. The main attraction of Australian education is the high quality and good environment of universities. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings reveals that Australia has 21 of the top 400 universities in the world. Australian universities can bring a quality English-medium education in a safe, tolerant environment that respects the needs of Muslim students.
