DIAC Recommends Visa Applications to be Lodged by November 6Monday, 26 October 2009 The Department of Immigration & Citizenship (DIAC) has advised that people intending to lodge applications for overseas family members to visit Australia over Christmas should do so before November 6, 2009. DIAC receives high volumes of Sponsored Family Visitor visa applications each year during the Christmas Holiday period. Due to the volume of applications, individuals who lodge their applications late may find that their visas may not be granted in time. DIAC have advised that any applications lodged after November 6 will not likely be processed before December 25 2009, though every effort will be made to process them as fast as possible. DIAC have stressed that regardless of when a visa application is lodged, there is no guarantee that the application will be successful. Furthermore, individuals requiring formal medical and/or chest x-ray examination may take longer to process. If you wish to travel to Australia to visit family this Christmas, Migration Expert suggests beginning your application as soon as possible to ensure your visa is processed in time, and to accommodate any unforeseen delays.
