The suspension follows a UK government security breach in the online application system. Almost half a million people applied for visas to the UK over the last year, and around 50,000 applicants used the online system.

Following the security lapse the UK also suspended online applications from Nigeria and Russia.

Applications for UK visitor visas must now use a paper-based application to the High Commission, Embassy or diplomatic post responsible.
