UK economy performance praised by IMFTuesday, 6 March 2007 International Monetary Fund (IMF) has announced that UK’s macroeconomic performance remains ‘impressive’. The IMF assessment has revealed that the UK is experiencing a faster growth, a higher business investment, steady wage growth and rising household wealth.
However, the IMF has also agreed with the Bank of England’s policy of raising the interest rates 3 times to rein the inflation rate. The only concern which has been raised by the IMF is the rise in housing prices and the sudden increase in the fiscal deficit. Both items are in the government’s agenda and they should be tackled to foster the excellent economic performance.
