New resource to assist Canadian employers hire international workersMonday, 22 June 2009 The Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney, announced a new resource to assist employers in hiring internationally trained workers. The new tool, "The Employer's Roadmap", is designed to support Canadian employers in bringing in as well as retraining internationally trained workers. Employers from any sector unable to find employees in Canada, can use this practical resource to hire foreign workers. "The Government of Canada is committed to improving the labour market integration of internationally trained workers – this is essential to building a strong Canada: socially, culturally and economically," said Minister Kenney. "Employers are key partners in helping internationally trained workers find jobs in their areas of training, and this resource makes it easier for employers to assess their qualifications." The Employer’s Roadmap addresses common questions related to hiring international skilled workers and assessing qualifications, as well as suggestions on how to integrate and retain these workers. It is anticipated that the new tool will help employers meet their labour needs more quickly and efficiently.
