Niagara Immigration portal to attract immigrantsThursday, 20 November 2008 Immigrants to Canada now have access to everything they need to know about Niagara, Ontario home the world famous Niagara Falls. Supported by the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration, www.niagaraimmigration.ca is a virtual one-stop gateway providing potential immigrants with timely information about Niagara’s labour market, cost of living, settlement services and much more. Working in collaboration with all levels of government and community partners, the immigration portal was created to help attract prospective immigrants, provide seamless access to relevant information and services, and assist prospective and landed immigrants in settlement and integration. Regional Chairman Peter Partington expressed support for the immigration portal stating that "international immigration is an increasingly important economic phenomenon and provides the advantage of addressing labour shortages. Particularly for Niagara, this represents a unique approach to addressing the forecasted challenging labour demands." Regional Councillor and Co-Chair of the Public Health and Social Services Committee Brian Baty noted, "In Niagara, we'll experience a shortage of skilled workers over the next decade and we’ll need to respond with a supply of highly skilled workers in order to meet labour demands. Many of the newcomers arriving in Niagara are very articulate, highly skilled and well-educated with much to contribute to our local labour market." He added, "The portal will further attract immigration and investment to Niagara." “This website helps to showcase Niagara region to newcomers and potential immigrants to Ontario,” said Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Michael Chan. Community Services Commissioner Brian Hutchings added “Once here, the immigrants will be well served by the efforts of more than one hundred agencies that already provide a continuum of services for newcomers. Representatives of these agencies partnered with the Niagara Region to design a site with a single point of access. Their expert input has helped to make the portal extremely relevant to potential immigrants to Niagara.” If you are interested in Visas to Canada, contact Migration Expert for information and advice on which visa is best suited to you.
