Prince Edward Island to attract French-speaking immigrantsWednesday, 17 October 2007 The government of Prince Edward Island (PEI) is working with Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to attract more immigrants to its rural Francophone communities. The Federal government will invest almost $50,000 CAD to the new program. The funding will be provided via the Official Languages Plan, and be targeted to PEI’s French-speaking Evangeline region. The money will help raise awareness of Francophone immigrant sectors of the local economy communicate, bring information online, and promote cultural activities. This is designed to help attract and retain immigrants in PEI’s rural communities. |
