Services to help newcomers from India and ChinaWednesday, 7 November 2007 Canada's minister for Citizenship and Immigration recently announced new services to help newcomers to Canada from India and China to get their credentials assessed faster. The move is welcomed by many immigrant groups in Canada and will help to ensure that newcomers can more quickly find work in their field. One of the biggest barriers faced by newcomers to Canada is recognition of international credentials. Often, Canadian employers will only recognize Canadian, American or UK qualifications. Citizenship and Immigration Canada announced the expansion of Foreign Credentials Referral Services, specifically designed to help immigrants from China and India get their credentials assessed faster. The new service will help prospective immigrants to find out if their qualifications pass muster in Canada, and how they can address any problems if they do not. |
