North American IT industry lacking talentWednesday, 30 May 2007 North America is lacking IT talent which has forced CEO's to look for IT professionals overseas to fill vacancies in North American companies. Companies are having difficulty finding adequate IT talent in North America and are therefore courting foreign-trained IT professionals enrolled in IT programs in colleges and Universities. North America lacks IT talent simply because there are not enough graduating students from computer science programs. Several executives have encountered difficulty in finding IT professionals and this is said to be a big challenge for companies. Many foreign students are already being offered jobs in big companies to ensure that the company can maintain growth. There is however, a concern that restrictions on work visas will prevent companies from obtaining talent from overseas. North American corporations are looking to hire overseas staffing firms to assist in recruiting IT professionals. By hiring staffing firms overseas, foreign workers will be able to avoid the hassle of obtaining work visas to North America and can simply stay in North America with a foreign contract worker visa for the duration of their contract. |
