Canada has seen its 5th straight month of an enviable 6.1% unemployment rate.
Unlike many other developed economies, much of Canada’s employment growth has come in the form of full-time jobs. Part-time employment fell during June, while 62,600 new full-time positions were created by the Canadian economy.
Statistics Canada also released the latest unemployment rates by province. Once again, Alberta holds the lowest rate of unemployment, at only 3.3%. However, other Western Canadian provinces are also enjoying low rates of unemployment, with British Columbia and Saskatchewan at 4.4%, and Manitoba at 4.6%.
