Growth In Australian Jobs Far Exceeds Market ExpectationsFriday, 14 December 2007 With 53,000 jobs created in Australia during the month of November (well above the expected 20,000 rise), there could not be a better time for immigration to this prosperous country, as the amount of job openings are still on the rise.
Employment growth, which is now at 2.9%, has been pushed to its highest level in six months. This could seem in contrast with the increased unemployment rate of 4,5%, which is at its highest level since March. This is because there’s been a rise in the participation rate, which includes people looking for work, and therefore are now registered as unemployed. Yet, amongst this sea of job vacancies, the demand for workers, especially in the skilled sector, is still significantly high. The strongest increase in the job vacancies in Australia’s skilled sector was for medical and science technical officers, followed by hairdressers, metal trades and chefs. Australia's jobs sector is also still short of accountants, auditors, organisation and information professionals, as well as people in the construction trades. |
